Penis Enlargement Surgery - Understanding How It Works!

Several different methods are used to increase the length of the penis. But most of these methods are without clinical approval. There is not enough research here to indicate whether these surgeries are safe and without complications or not.

One of these surgical methods is to cut the suspensory ligaments that hold the penis from the pubic bone. The abdominal skin is moved to the shaft of the penis. Slicing this ligament may make the penis look bigger because it moves further away from the body. However, this can create problems with erection and may also cause the erect penis to deviate from its normal tilt and inclination.

The grafting method is also used in which skin from somewhere else is grafted into the penis. This process can result in a misshapen penis and cause hair on the lower end of the penis and deformities such as scarring.

Fat injections are also given to the penis to make it appear bigger. This fat may be removed from elsewhere in the body, especially the buttocks or the abdomen. In some cases, tissues from dead bodies may be used.

Though all these methods are widely used, none of them have any confirmation of being cent percent safe. Organizations such as ASPS consider fat injections as a completely unsafe technique. Complications such as injections, sensitivity loss, internal bleeding and complications with the functions of the penis might occur. Though the thickness of the penis might increase, the fat can be retaken into the body and case the penis to have irregular curved shapes. One particular experiment shows that one third of the fat was reabsorbed in the body just within a year of the penis enlargement surgery.

Keeping High Hopes

A few men were studied in a particular survey. These men had penises of adequate sizes. However, for some reason, they felt that they needed longer penises. It was because of this reason that they developed a particular perceived problem about the appearance of their penis. This problem is today called as the penile dysmorphic disorder.

People who have this disorder are quite shy of exposing themselves to other men because they have a preconceived complex. They would not change in front of others, for example.

Most men are not happy even with the results of surgeries. These are men with dysmorphic disorders. A little over 25 in every 100 men who undergo the penis enlargement surgery are not happy with the gains they get.

A lot of men who go under the surgeon’s knife for penile enhancement have very high hopes about what they can get from the operation. In some cases, they might also need intervention and some kind of counseling so that they might be guided to be happy with the size they have got.

Penis Enlargement Surgery is Not Without Danger and can be Ineffective

The dissatisfaction quotient among people who undergo penis enlargement surgery is quite high. Though penis enlargement surgery can add about half an inch to the size of the penis (in its flaccid state), it may not show any improvement in the size of the erect penis. Also, in some cases, there might be deformities in the penis which would need further corrective procedures.

These might include scars on the penis, loss of erectile capacity, lumpy deposits on the penis, problems with urination, pain, etc. These methods are quite expensive too - they can cost up to $10,000 without corrective penis enlargement surgery. Also, it is important to point out that there is no insurance cover for penis enhancement surgeries because they are classified as cosmetic surgeries.
